Our history:
On Nov. 22, 2014, God did a thing and used some of the most unassuming and unusual people to do it and he still is. Lately I’ve been reading the Old Testament and the common theme both in the old and new testament is watching how people are used and in ways they never thought they would be.
In 2014, a local church decided to do a thanksgiving project, and in the course of that project I was able to help and was just one of a handful of volunteers. Through that, while delivering the items we had to give, through being given a sneak peak into the lives of a handful of individuals baskets were taken to, some needs were identified… Needs that could be met more easily than most.
That same day and a short Facebook Post later, three used heaters were given to me and taken back to some of the homes of people who’d received food, and just like that, Comfort Keepers Ministry was born. I have one photo from that day. It is of a group of people with big hearts, at the crack of dawn in a kitchen putting packs of stuff together, and I’m thankful I have that photo.
Comfort Keepers Ministry was initially under the umbrella of Highland Assembly of God and was given a line item in their budget because as needs were put out to this community, generosity poured in.
After a several years, the projects became larger and larger, expanding each year and eventually led to the Comfort Keepers Ministry Inc, a 501-c-3 non-profit being created in March of 2020.
Looking back over the last 10 years, the scope of partnerships, volunteers, events, resources, lives impacted, lessons learned and hearts touched, all I can say is thank you.
I have always believed it is easy to help people if you don’t keep tabs. I still believe that today, but I wanted to share a few numbers with you, because were it not for this community, most of this would have never been possible.
All of the projects listed are ongoing, none of these would be possible without the community and the support given.
